(Originally written for publication in Squares 'Round the Bay.)

For three weeks in July, while our club caller John Sybalsky was on vacation, Scot Byars called for us. The third week, he brought with him Hunter Keller, a youth caller from Montana who was in the area for the California Family Jamboree, and they both called for us!

Late in July a group of us did a demo at SRI International in Menlo Park, with Joe Dehn calling.

The first Sunday in August was our official day for "Dancing at the Fair" in San Jose, but several of us attended on other days as well. John Sybalsky, Joe Dehn, Mary Gingell, and Bill van Melle all participated as callers, and Joe was the coordinator for the whole five-day program.

In mid-August, Jim Davis, Joe Dehn, Mary Gingell, and Sue Lietz-Davis attended the Vic Ceder C-3A program in McCloud.

Saturday 22 September is our traditional "Challenging Plus Hoedown", featuring the calling of John Sybalsky with rounds cued by John Flora. This evening includes pre-rounds and two and a half hours of Plus dancing with rounds, followed by an hour of Advanced and Challenge tips. Same place as last year -- St. Andrews Church in Palo Alto. Don't miss it!

Our annual class will begin in October. This is a fast-paced class, which is suitable for people without previous square dance experience but also of interest to anyone who would like to review the Mainstream and Plus calls from an APD perspective. Intro nights (free for beginners) will be 21 and 28 October.
