October 2004

(Originally written for publication in The Prompter.)

Our beginners class will start with three free intro nights -- 10, 17, and 24 October, 7-9pm at Fairmeadow School in Palo Alto. Our class features All Position Dancing (APD) from the start, giving students a solid foundation not only for dancing Plus but also if they later want to proceed to the Advanced and Challenge programs.

Our class (and club) welcomes both couples and singles, including teens and families. No partner required. Dancers who have already taken a class elsewhere and want to review the Mainstream and Plus calls from an APD perspective, or who want an opportunity to learn "the other part" (boy/girl) are also welcome.

Meanwhile, summer has ended and we're back to other fall activities. At least six members of Quads attended the Sierra Spin in Plymouth on the Labor Day weekend.

John Flora and Dolores Ferrero have been appointed as Secretary of the NCSDA for the 2004-2005 term, and Jim Davis was re-elected First Vice President of the SCVSDA.

And by the time you read this we should have seen you at our 19th (almost) Annual Challenging Plus Hoedown!

In addition, quite a few Quads members are hard at work getting ready for the 48th Annual Jubilee, back in San Jose this year. Mary Gingell is Assistant General Chair, Jim Davis is Goodwill Ambassador, Kindra Van Spyk is Vendor Chair, Michelle La Chance is Youth Chair, Joe Dehn is Historian (and another member of the Youth Committee) -- and our club caller John Sybalsky will be calling the Youth Competition on Saturday evening!

Hoping to see you all at Jubilee, starting Friday 8 October!
